Vol.45:Be simple!!

Good morning! I arrived at Nafplion port in Greece.

It’s 3rd time to be there.

Let me talk about English.

Yesterday, I talked with cabin mate from Turkish.

Me  "I will buy English book! I found good used book store last cruise!"

Mate ”Sounds good! Is this English book?”

Me “Yes! “

Mate ”I’m not good at  English book. Sometimes i don’t understand the sentence. That’s why I usually buy Turkish book. Like this.”

I was surprised. Because he speaks English fluently.

I thought reading English book is easy to him.

I notice that speaking skill and reading skill are different.

I thought studying all skills with good balance is the fastest way to learn.

Of course it’s true. But sometimes false.

Because Speaking skill improves by speaking.

Reading skill improves by reading.

I concentrated balance too much.

In his case, he improved speaking skills by speaking.

It means depends on the purpose, we need to change approach.

He can speak fluently, but he can’t use difficult word.

My purpose is to speak English fluently, furthermore with many vocabularies.

That’s why I read books.

Through that conversation, I noticed important thing.

I feel I can think more simply. I tend to overthink.

It has sometimes good aspect, also has bad aspect.

So I try to be more simple.
